Hi,
We know that most protocols do verify bidirectional communication on a link when establishing adjacency.
My understanding is that PIM doesn't do this, so there could potentially be a situation where the session is up only at one side of the link.
This doesn't make much sense to me, because multicast control-plane will not work in this case, so there will not be multicast traffic in the data plane either.
Why PIM doesn't make sure that link is bidirectional before declaring neighbor as operational?
Thanks
