Job Description:
Systems Security Engineer position supports the Department of Commerce, U.S. Census Bureau, Telecommunications Office , Security Systems Branch on-site in Suitland, MD. The candidate must have thorough hands-on experience with the Cisco Firewall Service Module (FWSM), Cisco Adaptive Security Appliance (ASA), and ISE Identity Services Engine.
The candidate will be responsible for the design, install, upgrade, maintenance, and troubleshooting of multiple Cisco ASAs and multiple DMZ's per context in a highly available/redundant configuration; Responsible for Installation, configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting VPN connections between Federal customer and other agencies; Responsible for firewall performance tuning, installing and configuring multiple DMZ’s, configure NATing, troubleshooting wired and wireless network problems, checking firewall logs and activity; Responsible for performing tasks and assignments related to information systems security; Responsible for daily review of system logs in order to proactively catch suspicious network activity.
Education/Experience: Must have 5 years of experience and a B.S. in Computer Science, Information Systems Management or similar. In lieu of a degree 9 years experience working in a large enterprise environment with the internal processes of a federal governmental structure and its mandates are required. Possession of Industry security certifications, CCNA, CCNP Security, CISP, CISSP, CCIE or equivalent experience required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Must be familiar with FIPS, FISMA and NIST 800 Series, network and security architecture, deployment models and security best practices. Must possess ability to work collaboratively with a variety of individuals (team player) in a fast-paced environment. Excellent attention to detail skills. Ability to troubleshoot problems.
