The task:
•Modify R4’s MQC policy to meet the following requirements:
◦Set the total size of the MQC queue to 512 buffers.
◦The traffic flows for the web servers in VLAN 146 and the IP Precedence 0 packets from VLAN 146 should be guaranteed 32Kbps each.
◦Limit the sizes of the FIFO queues for the HTTP and IP Precedence 0 traffic classes to 16 and 24 packets, respectively.
◦All other unmatched traffic in the policy should run WFQ.
◦Dynamic flows in this WFQ should start dropping when they reach 32 packets in length.

The SG has this for the interface specific config:

interface Serial 0/1/0
bandwidth 128
max-reserved-bandwidth 100
no fair-queue
hold-queue 512 out

Since "max-reserved-bandwidth" is now deprecated, we can disreguard that.

I'm not sure where the bandwidth 128 has come from though?  Anyone?

I cannot get work experience due to no job here in  Germany, what are the other ways that i can prepare for this exam ? Thanks in advance.

CCIE RSv5 Advanced Technologies Class, Workbook, & Rack Rentals

INE’s CCIE Routing & Switching v5 Workbook is now available in initial beta release. The RSv5 Workbook combines our previous four volume format into a single product, offering Advanced Technology Labs to learn new technologies in a step-by-step approach, Advanced Foundation Labs to increase your speed and accuracy at core configuration tasks, Advanced Troubleshooting Labs to help you master a structured troubleshooting approach, and Full-Scale Practice Labs to simulate the CCIE Routing & Switching Lab Exam.

The RSv5 Workbook is delivered in an online format that allows you to instantly access the content in both HTML and PDF format. The format also includes advanced features such as bookmarking and notations that can be added and accessed from your PC, Mac, iOS, or Android device, and has no restrictions on access, printing, or time limits. A sample of the online format can be seen here. The RSv5 workbook uses an updated topology which includes IOS version 15.4 and Catalyst IOS version 15.0. Rack rentals are available for the v5 workbook here.  I would recommend to start booking your sessions now for v5, as they are currently 1/2 priced during the workbook beta, only 3 tokens per hour.

Right now about 200 new and updated Advanced Technology Labs are available in the beta release. During the beta period, updates will be continue to be posted on a daily basis, so keep an eye on the release notessection of the workbook for new updates. During the beta period new customers who purchase the RSv5 workbook will additionally get access to the RSv4 Workbook Volumes 1 – 4. Upgrades for previous RSv4 Volume I & Volume II Workbook customers are free, and should already be posted to your members account.

Additionally we now have a hard timeline for the CCIE Routing & Switching v5 Advanced Technologies Class. The RSv5 ATC will run as a live online class over the course of about 3 – 4 weeks, starting immediately after Cisco Live. All Access Pass members can attend the live class for free, and will have access to the recordings in streaming format afterwards. If you purchase the current v4 ATC download, you will also be able to attend the new v5 class live, and get access to the videos in both streaming format and download format afterwards.Special bundle pricing is available which includes the RSv4 & RSv5 Workbooks, RSv4 & RSv5 ATC, and Rack Rental Tokens.

Specifically the RSv5 Advanced Technologies Class has the currently planned initial schedule:

  • Saturday May 24th at 09:00 Pacific – RSv5 ATC Kickoff
  • May 27th – 30th 08:00 Pacific
  • June 16th – 20th 08:00 Pacific
  • June 23rd – 27th 08:00 Pacific

The first class session on May 24th is free for anyone to attend. In this session I will be covering introductory and overview topics such as key changes to RSv5 vs. RSv4, scope and depth of topics that will be covered, initial preparation strategy, initial preparation resources, etc. Initially I’m budgeting 3 weeks for the class, but it may run more or less depending on how the flow of topics go, as the scope is seriously immense – more so than ever before. Also note that if you have an AAP membership or you buy the class you don’t have to attend all sessions. Feel free to drop in and out as you like, but remember that when you attend the class sessions live you will be able to ask me questions in real-time, which you obviously don’t get when you’re watching the videos in recorded format afterwards.

I look forward to seeing you all in class!

SDN certification track?

Hi there, any news on whether Cisco will launch any CCIE "SDN" specific track?

Or perhaps just update the Data Center track to include ACI  or other upcoming SDN topics?

Has anybody done the OTV part of workbook?

It's very weird for me.

1,

If I follow the workbook. Vlan 999 is down because the vlan 999 has no any active ports.

2,

What's purpose of otv site-vlan? I didn't really get it.

3,

When vlan 999(site-vlan) is up. the otv interface is up. But OTV still doesn't work.

*Configure R2 so that all traffic destined for VLAN 29 comes in the Serial link to R3.

I look at the SG and the config is all done on R5... Zip it!

2.1 Rip Summarization

Hi,

I was suspicious , SG instructs to do summarization through the BB2 with both ;

--Interface level command (which faces to BB2)

"ip summary-address rip 163.1.0.0 255.255.192.0"

"ip summary-address rip 150.1.0.0 255.255.240.0"

--And under RIP process by using ditsribute list

distribute-list prefix RIP_SUMMARY out Fa0/0

ip prefix-list RIP_SUMMARY seq 5 permit 163.1.0.0/18

ip prefix-list RIP_SUMMARY seq 10 permit 150.1.0.0/20

at the same time.Isn't one of them enough ? Or am i missing something?

Hi,

I'm facing a weird issue, there are 2 routers which have direct LDP neighbor.  R6 advertise lable 23 to XR2 and debug show that XR2 accepted and add this lable. Howeer, once I show lfib on XR2, it doesnt show the expected result.

R6:

Does anybody have any idea?

This might (or might not) be of use to someone doing this after me :)

I'm running 15.1(3)T4

My config for this task - i added in bold.

policy-map QOS-OUT
 class WWW
  set ip precedence 2
  bandwidth remaining percent 33
  random-detect
  random-detect ecn

  random-detect precedence 2 4 16 4

According to the SG to get this to work we should just be able to copy http: from R1 to R5.  I've found that I've had to do this from both R5 and SW2 in order to trigger ECN and see RED working.

With just R5 copying from R1 :

   Class-map: WWW (match-all)
      3044 packets, 1765520 bytes
30 second offered rate 99000 bps, drop rate 0 bps
      Match: access-group 10
      Match: protocol http

I've also noticed that the class output no longer shows "explicit congestion notification", although it is clearly doing it.

Hello,

I have the following very easy config:

!
interface Loopback1
 ip address 3.3.3.3 255.255.255.0
!
router bgp 1
 redistribute connected

I have the following output:

R2#sh ip bgp
BGP table version is 16, local router ID is 1.1.1.2
Status codes: s suppressed, d damped, h history, * valid, > best, i - internal,
              r RIB-failure, S Stale
Origin codes: i - IGP, e - EGP, ? - incomplete

Network          Next Hop            Metric LocPrf Weight Path
*> 3.3.3.0/24       0.0.0.0                  0         32768 ?
R2#

R2#sh ip bgp 3.3.3.0/24
BGP routing table entry for 3.3.3.0/24, version 16
Paths: (1 available, best #1, table Default-IP-Routing-Table)
  Not advertised to any peer
  Local
    0.0.0.0 from 0.0.0.0 (1.1.1.2)
Origin incomplete, metric 0, localpref 100, weight 32768, valid, sourced, best
R2#

My question is: why is it selected as best? In my understanding, it should be RIB-failured (I have the route in the RIB via connected). Even if it would be RIB-failured, would be advertised to other peers.

Thanks in advance for your help.

QOS commands deprecated

Since the move to 15.x there has been a number of IOS commands deprecated.  Some of which were useful.

What do you use when inspecting QOS policy?   (I've noticed for instance, that "sh policy int <x/x> differs quite a bit to 12.x - quite a bit of info is missing)

Hey guys!  I'm attempting to find a remote control solution for my 9971s in my home lab, and I can't get VoIP Integration nor UnifiedFX PhoneView to work.  They are currenlty registered to a CME server via SIP.  Any ideas on a product that works to remote control these devices?  Has anyone had success with this?

Has anyone attending this or similar certification based tech sessions?     If so what feedback do you have, are they worth the additional $$?

Looking at the brief overview, its hard to gauge the depth of usefulness of the session.   I have to admit,  it sounds very interesting to someone who is just starting down the SP path.

Comments would be appreciated.
