NTP client and server configuration

Hi, I will be thankful if someone can explain the problem faced in NTP client and server configuration.

Lets say i have two routers R1 and R2 connected via P2P link.R1(10.0.0.1) ---P2P Link--- (10.0.0.2)R2

R1 is the NTP master for the network. R2 synchronize its clock from R1. Say on R1, I have set the clock manually with command clock set 14:27:22 March 9 2003. On R2 I have configured ntp server 10.0.0.1.

Unfortunately i cannot see the time 14:27:22 on R2 in the "show clock detail" output, however in the "show ntp status" output on R2 i can see clock is synchronized. Can anybody explain why? Am i missing any configuration on client (R2)? or on server (R1)
