Data Center Engineer - Atlanta, GA

Data Center Engineer,Office of Information Technology

Duties:The TCSG Data Center Engineer will be responsible for deployment and management of complex technical solutions utilizing a variety of designated datacenter infrastructure equipment.  This position will serve as the escalation and education point for all other Engineers and Technicians on datacenter issues.

This position will work with the TCSG IT team as a Data Center Engineer and will report to the Director of Information Technology.  The Data Center Engineer will be the primary point of contact for all Data Center projects and support.  The candidate will be expected to interact with users, peers and management via phone, IM, video, email and in person.

Major Duties:

• The Data Center Engineer will be responsible for the configuration, implementation, and maintenance of various technologies such as Virtualization (including VDI), Storage Engineering and Server Management. This person will also focus on the administration of the Data Center UCS, Nexus, and NetApp Platforms. The Engineer will assess and identify appropriate solutions to be integrated into the systems operation and make recommendations for implementation.
• Provides storage area network connectivity and configuration; maintains documentation including hardware/software applications, support logs and other related information.
• Assists in installing, configuring and maintaining system hardware and software; analyzes and troubleshoots the network logs and tracks the nature and resolution of problems; monitors usage to ensure security of data and access privileges.
• Establishes and maintains user accounts, profiles, file sharing, access privileges and security; performs daily server backups; researches, analyses, monitors, troubleshoots and resolves server or data network problems; develops, maintains and implements network support, and archiving procedures.
• Maintains excellent communication with the management and peers on all tasks and projects.
• Creates and maintains good technical documentation.
• Provides emergency support as needed.
• Cross-trains with the Network, VoIP, Security and Microsoft team members to provide backup support as necessary.
• Provides Helpdesk support for all IT related services as needed. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field *and* Three (3) years of experience in complex enterprise scale multi-user systems and/or network administration and/or database management

Note: Experience may substitute for the degree on a year for year basis.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:  (In addition to minimum qualifications) 

• 5+ years working in an enterprise Level IT environment
• 2+ years of UCS (B-series) experience
• 2+ years of NetApp experience
• 2+ years of VMWare experience
• 2+ years of experience configuring and managing Cisco Switches/Routers
• 2+ years of experience managing a Flexpod infrastructure
• 2+ years of experience configuring and managing Cisco Nexus Switches
• 2+ years of Citrix XenApp/XenDesktop Experience
• 2+ years of Load Balancer Experience (Citrix NetScaler or Barracuda preferred)
• 2+ years of Linux/Unix administration
• 2+ years of Microsoft server administration

Preferred Certifications:

• VMware Certified Professional
• Citrix XenApp/XenDesktop and/or Netscaler certifications
• Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer
• CCNA – Data Center designation a plus
• CCNP – Data Center designation a plus
• Storage certification from NetApp

COMPETENCIES: 

• Ability to deploy, configure and manage blade server and storage technologies (SAN, NAS, FC, FCoE, iSCSI)
• Ability to deploy, configure and manage Cisco UCS B-Series
• Ability to deploy, configure and manage multiple NetApp systems running 7-Mode
• Ability to configure and manage a VMWare environment
• Strong client-facing skills, assertiveness, strong communications skills, leadership, self-starter
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work in a team environment
• Ability to read and comprehend complex technical documents
• Ability to manage multiple assignments
• Skill in interpersonal relations and dealing with vendors and contractors
