My understanding of the shape average <rate> command is to set the bucket that traffic resides in and is shaped out of. I've read that this should match the CIR that the ISP provides me, but the question is why does there seem to be a max on this rate? In 8.4 the range for shape average is <64000-154400000>. How can this be? What if my ISP is providing a 300 Mbps CIR? Am I really capped off at 147 Mbps? Is there a way to get around this? Just having a difficult time understanding why Cisco would give us Gig interfaces on the ASA, but only 147 Mbps to shape our traffic with.
