Trouble with OTV Lab

Hi all,  are you having trouble with your OTV lab at all?  One key thing I found to be missing - but I think essential.  Took me a minute or two to work it out, but basically, although the task does not state it, vlan 999 needs to be trunking from each N7K to their respective N5K.  This brings the site vlan 'up'.  If you don't do this, 'computer says no'.

Well, that's what I reckon anyway.  It's the only way I could get OTV to pass traffic.  It makes sense, as if vlan 999 only exists in isolation on each N7K, then it effectively will be in a down state, even though 'active'.

Because the task tells you to disable all other links, and that you know vlan 999 cannot be transported across the overlay, then the only way to get it into the up state is to trunk it to the N5K.

Worked for me :-)

Nizami - This lab actually answers a question we posed to each other.  We can configure OTV with multicasting, without an RP even if direct connecting.  No pim requirement, but can still apply the otv data and control groups.  Of course, we could use adjacency server instead.

Rgds
