4.5 Virtual link(s)

Hi All,

I have just completed task 4.5 to check the SG and see that my solution is somewhat different.

I simply configured the Virtual-link directly between the ABRs (R2 and R1), where the SG shows the solution being configured with multiple VLs through the hub router R5. I am unsure as to the reasoning behind this. my basic solution apears to work fine??

My solution (for the VL only):

!R1
conf t
router ospf 1
area 125 virtual-link 150.1.2.2
!R2
conf t
router ospf 1
area 125 virtual-link 150.1.1.1

RSRack1R1#sh ip ospf neighbor

Neighbor ID     Pri   State           Dead Time   Address         Interface

150.1.2.2         0   FULL/  -           -        128.1.125.2     OSPF_VL0

RSRack1R2#sh ip ospf neighbor

Neighbor ID     Pri   State           Dead Time   Address         Interface

150.1.1.1         0   FULL/  -           -        128.1.125.1     OSPF_VL0

RSRack1R2#sh ip ospf virtual-links

Virtual Link OSPF_VL0 to router 150.1.1.1 is up

  Run as demand circuit

  DoNotAge LSA allowed.

Transit area 125, via interface Virtual-Access1, Cost of using 2

Transmit Delay is 1 sec, State POINT_TO_POINT,

Timer intervals configured, Hello 10, Dead 40, Wait 40, Retransmit 5

    Hello due in 00:00:03

    Adjacency State FULL (Hello suppressed)

Index 1/3, retransmission queue length 0, number of retransmission 0

    First 0x0(0)/0x0(0) Next 0x0(0)/0x0(0)

Last retransmission scan length is 0, maximum is 0

Last retransmission scan time is 0 msec, maximum is 0 msec

Many thanks
