Hello group,
I have this scenario:
http://ccie18473.net/vPC-UCS.jpg
It’s an UCS system connected via vPC to a pair of 7Ks.
The vPC port-channel peer-link transports all Vlans.
I have another port-channel between the 7Ks that are there for backup. If for some reason the vPC peer-link goes down, I have a backup spanning-tree path.
Is there anything wrong with this design ? I’m still not understanding why some documents mention that the vPC should only transport the vPC Vlans and that the remaining Vlans should be on another normal STP link. If we configure it like this, there’s no redundancy. Or am I missing something ?
I have this under production and I see what I want. For a particular Vlan, I see it forwarding via the vPC peer-link and blocked on the redundant port-channel. I suppose that when the peer-link goes down, everything still works under normal spanning-tree rules.
Thanks.
