I just watched the neighbors video for EIGRP in the intermediate section.
At the very end, he was playing with modifying the hello/dead intervals. He changed R1 to 1/3. R2 was still at 5/15.
He then stated that this would cause a descrepency between R1 and R2 because R2's hello is 5 seconds, but R1's dead is set to 3.
Here is my question:
This would be true in OSPF, but in EIGRP arent the hello/dead timers defined FOR the originating router? ie: R1 is saying to R2 "if you dont get a hello from ME (R1) in 3 seconds, go ahead and declair me dead, but I still understand that you (R2) are on a 5/15 timer basis".
Not the OSPF way of "if I dont see a hello from my neighbors in 3 seconds, I'm delcaring them down even though you're sending hellos every 5".
Can someone verify or just call me crazy?
