You might get away with using the same RD for all spoke sites most of the time, but that does not
work in all scenarios. You might have two spoke CE routers connected to the same PE router. In
that case, the only thing that prevents the spoke routes from being sent directly to the other spoke

Can someone clarify the above statement for me please? I'm confused as to how the RD would help in this scenario - is it a mistake?
